Dementia Week
Sharon Stevens from Home Instead North Herts, a domiciliary care company operating in North Herts, has decorated the telephone box library on Upper Green with knitted and crocheted forget-me-nots for Dementia Week.
This is to pay tribute to all with dementia but especially a lady in Ickleford who used to live near the telephone box library and who now lives in a care home, but her husband still lives nearby and will see the decorated telephone box. It means a lot to those at Home Instead and the lady’s family who have lived in Ickleford for over 50 years to have her be remembered in such a unique and thoughtful way.
There is a community project decorating post boxes, shop windows and other landmarks across North Hertfordshire in memory of loved ones affected by dementia. Everyone is welcome to join Home Instead in doing this. More information is available on our website: https://go.homeinstead.co.uk/3PuhbcO.
Further Activities for Dementia Week
Experience Dementia
On Sunday, May 19th, The Dementia Experience will be at Walsworth Festival in Hitchin. By simulating the symptoms of dementia, such as confusion, disorientation, and sensory impairments, the virtual dementia experience allows individuals with healthy brains to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those with the condition. See them from 10am to 4pm at Walsworth Common, Woolgrove Road, Hitchin, SG4 0BZ.
Fundraising
Home Instead North Herts is also fundraising via Just Giving for a Raizer Chair. This chair helps transfer someone who has fallen to a sitting or standing position, so they don’t have to wait on the floor for paramedics to arrive.
