Dear Resident,
After the snow, ice, wind and rain of recent weeks, the window panes on the telephone box on Upper Green are beginning to lose their sealant and water is leaking in. Some of the books have unfortunately been damaged too much to save them, and the remainder of the books have been removed to store by some kind residents.
Once the telephone box has dried out, which may take a while unless a temporary solution can be applied, the panes will be re-sealed using a weatherproof sealant, and the books can be put back.
In the meantime, please do not leave any books in the telephone box as it is likely that they will also get wet, and also the shelves need to be clear in order to carry out the work for both the short-term and longer-term solutions.
We apologise that the book exchange will temporarily be out of use. We also thank all the residents who have been assisting with this issue, as well as keeping the books tidy over the past 15 months – and to all users of the book exchange.
Kind regards,
Ickleford Parish Council
