Ickleford Brownies are recruiting!
Ickleford Brownies are holding an Open Evening on Wednesday 22nd September, at Ickleford Village Hall, for girls aged 7 – 9 to try out an evening of Brownies. Please call Kirstie on 07561 517044 to register for the trial. Timings will be provided to interested parties.

September already…what happened to summer?
So many hopes and plans have been dashed by the lockdown, and foreign travel restrictions, but on the brighter side, lots have families have had the chance to explore our wonderful country instead.
Faye and I have been busy since we last wrote, and we’ve been able to support local clubs and organisations to re-start after the months of closures. As we move into Autumn, wouldn’t it be good to get some community events up and running? We’ve got great halls and clubs where we could start up theatre groups, as some thrive in a couple of our villages, and put on our own plays! (Oh yes we can!)
What about a village dance, like in days gone by? A great way to socialise with our neighbours and friends! Will we be seeing a Film Club opening for business soon? I hope so.
Our Parish Councils are always looking for support and ideas to enhance our community spirit and camaraderie. Have you got ideas and the enthusiasm to “re-light the fire”?
I guess I might have been watching too many “Midsomer Murders episodes”, and love the old fashioned village events…without the murders, of course.
Get in touch with your local Councillors, or set up a group yourselves. It will be so much fun, and bring enjoyment to our friends and neighbours too! I think we might be pleasantly surprised at the variety and number of activities that we can all enjoy.

Casual vacancy on the Parish Council
A casual vacancy has arisen for a councillor on Ickleford Parish Council following the resignation of Mick Barber. This vacancy will be filled by co-option at the Parish Council meeting to be held at the Village Hall on Thursday October 7th.

Ickleford’s Book Exchange is now open!
On a sunny and warm Saturday 11th September, the Grand Opening of the book exchange was held! Photos and the story behind it will be featured in a separate newsletter to follow. But please do pay the little library on Upper Green a visit – books are waiting to be borrowed / exchanged, by residents of all ages!
