Casual vacancy on the Parish Council
There is still time to apply for the casual vacancy for a councillor that has arisen on Ickleford Parish Council following the resignation of Mick Barber. This vacancy will be filled by co-option at the Parish Council meeting to be held at the Village Hall on Thursday October 7th.
If you are interested in applying, please request the application and eligibility forms by emailing the Parish Clerk, Judith Crosier, on clerk@ickleford-pc.gov.uk or by telephoning 07913 839933. Please return the forms on the same email address, or by post to 8 Brittains Rise, Lower Stondon, Bedfordshire, SG16 6JT to be received by 5pm on Friday 24th September 2021.

NHDC Food Waste Collections
North Herts District Council is still reporting staff shortages which are impacting on their ability to collect all food waste bins.
A statement on their website reads:
If your food caddy hasn’t been emptied, please present it on your next scheduled collection day as we will not be able to make your collection.
If your caddy is too full to wait for your next collection, then you can temporarily put your food waste in your brown bin if you subscribe to our garden waste collection service. If you are not a garden waste subscriber, then you can put food waste in your purple general waste bin.

Play Area
We note that the hand sanitiser dispensers have been damaged or removed. At present, the Parish Council do not plan to replace them, but should restrictions be put in place again the Councillors will review the situation.
The Parish Council hopes to install another litter bin in the Play Area in the coming weeks.
Book Exchange
It’s great to see the book exchange being used! Thank you for leaving a book in place of the one you have borrowed – and if you borrow a book without leaving one of your own, that’s fine too. There is a large reserve of books and Samantha and Stephanie are filling gaps from that for the time being. Residents have been kindly donating books but for now, no more are needed other than the exchanged books, and it will largely run itself as time goes on. Please visit the telephone box if you have not already had a look!
Update on the works at St Katharine’s Church
The building works at the church were scheduled for completion by the beginning of September. The new room is almost ready for use! However, due to long-term illness, the work on the roof has been delayed. The builders and the church have every effort to source another roofer and happily, a roofing contractor is due to start mid-October. Once work begins, an estimated date for completion can be given to residents. Thank you for your patience and please be assured that the clergy and wardens at the church, and the site manager, are always available to talk to residents.
