Network Rail works in Ickleford 24th December to 27th December

Dear Resident,

Network Rail has informed the Parish Council and some residents of Ickleford of work that is planned to take place over the Christmas weekend, from 24th to 27th December inclusive.

The works are part of the East Coast Main Line upgrade, and will involve excavations and the construction of a retaining wall. Piling is due to take place between 10.30am and 6pm on 25th December, and between 11.30pm on the 25th and 4.30am on 26th December. There is likely to be increased noise and vibration; a noise licence has been obtained from NHDC for the works which includes all proposed noise dampening measures.

Staff have been and will continue to be briefed on minimising noise from personnel, vehicles and machinery.

Network Rail apologises in advance for the disruption, and has explained that the work needs to be carried out when the railway is safest to access it, i.e. at night and when the service is greatly reduced.
