Whitsun Common – Operation Ragwort – to resume on Tuesday 23rd July

Message from Frances Barry, Chair of the Common Holders and organiser of the ragwort removal over the weekend

A big thank you to everyone who helped out at the weekend, pulling up the ragwort and wheelbarrowing it off the common. I reckon we put in (so far), about 25 hours between us; that’s a lot of calorie burn, especially in the blazing sunshine.

Dennis, the grazier, is very happy with the ragwort mountain – I thought we could give it one more go, to finish the job off and smash it!?

Dennis advised early morning or evening to avoid the heat…so, I’m going to be down there again, tomorrow (Tuesday) 7pm-8pm. If anyone or everyone can come along that would be amazing…if you feel you’ve done enough, give yourself a pat on the back…and maybe tell a friend how much fun you had and tell them about tomorrow…

Happily, the cattle have become accustomed to us and are letting us get with on it. I’m sure they appreciate Operation Ragwort too.

Thank you,
Frances
