Request for information about local residents who served in WWII
For the 2018 WW1 Remembrance commemorations, an Ickleford resident, Dr Colin Gooch, researched the stories behind the men and women of Ickleford who served in WW1 – not only those who lost their lives.
As part of the commemoration events, the work was made into an exhibition and displayed in Ickleford School hall. Afterwards, the material was printed and made into a book that is now available to read in St Katharine’s Church.
Dr Gooch has kindly offered to contribute in a similar way to the Parish Council’s WWII commemoration event which will be held next May, and needs the assistance of other residents to gather information about local men and women who served in the Second World War.
If you have any information at all and would like to share stories and/or photographs, please send scanned copies or photos to clerk@ickleford-pc.gov.uk who will pass them on to Dr Gooch. Many thanks in advance.
