People purporting to be genuine tradesmen are targeting people to ‘quote’ for building work, when they demand a cash deposit up front and/or carry out sub-standard work, or fail to complete the work or leave behind building waste. Hitchin Rural Police urge residents to check the credentials and reviews of tradespeople before agreeing to or paying for work.
