Parish Council Christmas Tree Lights Switch-on
Friday 10th December at 6pm on Upper Green, with refreshments, live carols from Hitchin Band and Father Christmas!
St Katharine’s Church Lychgate Christmas Stalls
Saturday 27th November, 4th December, 11th December 10.30am – 2.30pm, in the churchyard.
Crafts, cakes, toys, mulled wine – and much more! Funds raised will support the Church’s chosen charities.
Ickleford Creative Fair
Saturday 27th November, at Ickleford Village Hall from 10.30am to 4pm.
Artwork, handmade soap and personalised clothing are just some of the stalls available – and there will be refreshments from Ickle Cafe and The Old George – come and see what local businesses have to offer!
Special Constabulary’s information evening
The virtual event will take place this evening, Tuesday 23 November, between 7pm and 8.30pm, and is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a Special Constable. It will be fully interactive with lots of opportunity to ask questions.
A Special Constable is a part-time, voluntary police officer with all the same powers as regular police officers, including the power to arrest.
Specials come from all walks of life and volunteer their spare time for a minimum of 16 hours a month. They are highly trained and play an essential role in preventing, reducing and tackling crime and keeping the communities of Hertfordshire safe.
Charlotte Baker, Specials Development Assistant Manager, said: “Volunteering as a Special Constable is a great way to give back to the community and make a real difference to people’s lives.
“At our information session, you will be able to find out everything you need to know about life as a Special Constable, including the application process. There will be an opportunity to speak to our friendly recruitment team and hear from some of our serving volunteer officers who can bust any myths and tell you about their experiences.
“If you’re feeling inspired to give something new a try, please don’t hesitate to sign up to our event. Our Specials have a wide range of different skills and backgrounds including retail, customer service, pilots and full-time parents. You could have what it takes to make a real difference to your community so please join us at our event and see how extra-ordinary you could be!”

The event will be hosted using Microsoft Teams and there will also be a dial in facility for anyone using a mobile phone.
Defibrillator situated at the Village Hall
Ickleford Village Hall Committee would like all residents to be aware that there is an AED – defibrillator – for public use situated in the porch of Ickleford Village Hall. The instructions for use are on the yellow box it is housed in.

The 999 service is currently unavailable from some landlines in Hitchin. If you need to contact us in an emergency, call 999 from a mobile phone.

Fault reporting
Thank you to residents who report faults such as broken street lights and fallen trees to the Parish Council.
Any resident can report such faults – and the more residents who report them directly, the more the District and County Councils will be aware and likely to investigate. Please see:
