On Saturday 27th February 2021, representatives from the Trustees of Ickleford Burial Ground and from Ickleford Parish Council were joined by Hitchin and Harpenden MP Bim Afolami to help plant 50 trees that have been gifted to Ickleford by The Woodland Trust, as part of a national programme to increase the number of trees on public land.
The sun shone whilst the trees, a variety of oak, maple, crab apple, wild cherry and hornbeam, were planted. The trees will enhance the wild flower meadow and provide shade for relatives and friends visiting the beautiful resting place for years to come.
A number of trees will also be planted in the Recreation Ground in the coming weeks. We at the Parish Council would like to thank Bim for his time, and also to thank his office for organising this programme with The Woodland Trust.
